MSU College of Engineering

The Michigan State University College of Engineering is one of the largest and oldest colleges on the MSU campus. What began as a single field of study, “Mechanic Arts,” in 1885 has grown to an eight department college with 179 faculty members. The College of Engineering members are pioneering leaders, embracing Michigan State University’s tradition of advancing knowledge and transforming lives through innovative teaching, research and outreach.

Project Overview

Objective: Understanding the culture and workstyles of the college and to create a professional and productive work environment. Site lines needed to be adjusted so all workstations could enjoy the exterior views, while allowing an appropriate level of visibility to the faculty offices. In addition, the space’s color palette required strengthening and modernization.

Outcome: Coordinating with facility and other trades, DBI provided a smooth installation of panel systems and a collection of storage, seating and tables while the introduction of accent colors created a more engaging and welcoming environment. Communication was key in bringing the client’s vision to fruition and the integration of design with seamless functionality and adaptable product selections created an inspired space.
